Position Overview
Join our team as a Wind Technician, where your contributions will play a vital role in ensuring the continued efficiency and performance of wind turbine operations. In this hands-on position, you will engage daily in turbine maintenance, oversee essential safety protocols, uphold quality standards, and manage warranty repairs. Collaborating closely with the Site Lead and Manager, you’ll help fulfill contractual obligations while embodying the excellence that GE stands for!
Key Responsibilities
As a Wind Technician, your day-to-day activities will include:
Partnering with site leadership to deliver on customer-centric activities and ensure compliance with contractual agreements regarding GE wind turbine generator operations.
Conducting maintenance tasks, repairs, or parts replacement to resolve equipment malfunctions efficiently.
Troubleshooting intricate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable pitch and speed turbines.
Assisting across various operational facets with minimal oversight, as directed by your manager.
Performing diagnostic electrical analyses as needed.
Meticulously documenting all maintenance activities using our computer-based service reporting system.
Collaborating with GE’s remote operations center to address operational needs, when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED is required, along with:
A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic.
Alternatively:
A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, including hydraulic and electrical knowledge, and proficient use of basic power hydraulic tools, coupled with a successful completion of a Technical Knowledge Assessment and basic computer skills.
Eligibility Criteria
Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and climb towers reaching heights of up to 300 feet regularly.
Must comply with specified manufacturer weight restrictions, not exceeding 300 lbs while equipped with necessary gear.
Familiarity with electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, and industry regulations.
Willingness to work in diverse environments, including industrial sites and manufacturing plants.
Flexibility to accommodate rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities as required by the site.
Preferred Qualifications
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics discipline from an accredited institution.
Technical certification in Wind Energy or a related Electrical/Electronic field.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders at all levels within and beyond the Wind Farm.
Prior experience with wind turbines is advantageous.
A proactive attitude with the ability to operate independently without direct supervision.
Experience in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic fields.
Proficiency in using hydraulic power tools.
Knowledge of heavy equipment use for facility maintenance, with awareness of crane and rigging protocols.
