Join us in our mission to revolutionize personal finance and empower individuals to make informed financial choices.

At Monzo, we are saying goodbye to the outdated and perplexing world of traditional banking.

With our vibrant hot coral cards and the innovative get-paid-early feature, complemented by engaging financial education on social media and award-winning customer service, we have a proven track record of creating memorable experiences for our customers!

Our focus is not merely on selling products; we are dedicated to solving real problems and transforming lives through our platform.

The Borrowing division of Monzo is experiencing rapid growth, both in our current offerings and in the exciting new initiatives we have in the pipeline. We aspire to instill genuine positivity surrounding personal credit and are in search of passionate, analytical, and inventive professionals to help us reach this vision.

With your expertise in developing unsecured retail credit risk strategies and your knack for building top-tier credit capabilities, you will play a pivotal role in the success of Monzo’s borrowing solutions. You will oversee the development of our credit and pricing strategies for one of our unsecured lending offerings, whether that’s Flex, personal loans, or overdrafts. Collaborating with various teams, you will ensure we are constructing profitable lending portfolios and outstanding products for our customers.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    • Engage in projects aimed at enhancing our credit underwriting processes, fostering growth, and managing portfolio risks.
    • Support the design and implementation of new lending strategies by analyzing data patterns and converting those into actionable insights.
    • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of our existing strategies, continually refining them for optimal performance.
    • Collaborate with teams from engineering, marketing, product, risk, and control to conceptualize and implement product changes.
    • Develop, maintain, and monitor our credit models, assessing the net present value of new lending cohorts to inform strategic decisions.
    • Construct and uphold database tables and dashboards that deliver insights and facilitate swift, data-driven actions.
    • Assist in the design and rollout of new products and customer journeys to enhance user experience.
    • Evaluate the projected performance of specific lending product portfolios over time.

    You Should Consider Applying If:

    • You possess experience in unsecured retail lending, including personal loans, credit cards, overdrafts, or buy now pay later schemes.
    • You have a solid grasp of the dynamics of the unsecured retail lending market, especially the effects of pricing on portfolio performance.
    • You are knowledgeable about lending economics and have had hands-on experience in creating and applying underwriting strategies.
    • You are equipped with strong analytical skills and are adept at handling data, with proficiency in SQL; knowledge of Python and Looker is a bonus.
    • You understand the regulations governing lending in the UK.
    • You thrive in a dynamic environment and are eager to enhance our products while delivering meaningful changes to our customers.
    • You are an excellent communicator, adept at simplifying complex problems and clearly conveying key insights.
    • You bring experience in project management and are capable of fostering coordination among diverse teams.
    • You collaborate well with a team that encompasses a variety of skill sets and personalities.
    • You are driven and energized by the opportunity to make a positive impact on our customers and Monzo’s mission.

    The Interview Process:

Our interview structure consists of four key phases:

    • A take-home task to demonstrate your skills.
    • A final stage featuring three interviews: a case study, a role-specific interview, and a values-based interview.

The average duration of our interview process is approximately 3-4 weeks, and we will always accommodate your schedule. Throughout this journey, you will have opportunities to connect with our recruitment team, and if you have any preliminary questions, feel free to reach out to us.

    What We Offer You:

    • Support for relocation to the UK.
    • Visa sponsorship options.
    • This role can be based in our London office or allow remote working within the UK, with occasional meetings in London.
