We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison to represent our Medical Affairs team as the go-to scientific expert. This role is key to articulating our product offerings and leveraging your clinical and scientific expertise to engage effectively with healthcare providers and influencers within the endocrinology landscape.
This remote position reports to the Director of the Field Medical Team and involves the following key responsibilities:
- Act as the primary field-based medical representative for Medical Affairs.
- Raise awareness about Ascendis Pharma and communicate the transformative potential of TransCon technology within the endocrinology community.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge to support our portfolio, pipeline, and related disease states, particularly in bone and growth disorders.
- Deliver informative medical and scientific presentations to both internal teams and external audiences.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key organizations such as professional associations and patient advocacy groups.
- Assess the scientific needs of healthcare providers (HCPs), researchers, and patient advocates to guide patient care within your designated region.
- Develop and execute a KOL engagement strategy to foster collaborative relationships.
- Gather valuable insights regarding disease states, Ascendis’s offerings, and competitor activities and convey these insights to internal teams promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with internal colleagues in Market Access, Marketing, and Sales to provide medical expertise and support as required.
- Work alongside Medical Outcomes Scientific Liaisons (MOSLs) to meet regional objectives and deliver scientific resources.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of goals for the Field Medical Team.
- Provide support at medical congresses, including participating in clinical data presentations and engaging in scientific discussions at our booth.
- Facilitate onboarding and ongoing medical training for commercial and medical team members.
- Serve as a primary contact for external researchers interested in investigator-initiated trials (IITs).
- Support clinical trial operations, ensuring successful engagement with clinical investigators and sites, and participate in patient recruitment activities as needed.
- Document all relevant activities using the CRM platform.
- Ensure compliance with department and corporate policies and procedures.
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- MD/PhD/PharmD or equivalent educational background.
- At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a Medical Science Liaison is required.
- Experience in pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology, or rare diseases is preferred.
- A friendly demeanor and enthusiasm for engaging with healthcare providers and researchers.
- A deep passion for improving patient outcomes.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a knack for conveying complex scientific and clinical information in both virtual and in-person forums.
- A proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams to drive results.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage your own schedule effectively.
- Empowered to make decisions that significantly impact departmental credibility and services.
- Proficient in creating reports and presentations, with the ability to present to various audiences.
- Must reside near a major airport hub within your assigned region.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record are essential.
- Expected travel is approximately 50-75%.
